_________________________

The game plot is set in times of Vietnam War, where you are American pilot of the Republic F-105 Thunderchief affectionately known as the "Thud", a conventional strike and "defense suppression" aircraft. North Vietnam was divided up by the US military into a set of target zones referred to for some reason as "Route Packages (RPs)". The most heavily defended area was "RP-6A", in and around Hanoi. To enter into this target area, the F-105s had to fly over a region of hilly ground that became known as "Thud Ridge".

You are starting your career in "Wild Weasels" as Lieutenant, description of your first mission is to get the feel of your "Thud", but it is just a start of perilous and glorious ladder. The next missions vary from eliminating the Doumer tankers or bombing the bridge to dropping the leaflets or engaging the MiGs. Your rank may be raised if mission will be accomplished.

In the very beginning of each mission you should read the mission description, accept of decline this mission, and equip your aircraft with weapons and supplies. Taking off the airbase either from Korat or another place, you should flight to your destination eliminating the opponent MiGs, run the "Ridge", and complete your mission. The gameplay flows in third-person view with common flight simulator abilities.

Description from the packaging:

Your radio crackles with SAM warnings as your Strike Group pushes into North Vietnam. You're out ahead, lead Wild Weasel in a modified Thud-Republic F-105 Thunderchief. Today's target: the Paul Doumer Bridge- defended by everything from MIGs to SAMS to radar-guided guns. But to get there you've got to run Thud Ridge- 40 miles of long, green mountains pointing straight at downtown Hanoi.
Not the worst job in Vietnam: Just the most dangerous.

You blow through the Ridge armed and ready. Suddenly the air is black with flak and AA the size of Coke bottles rush by the cockpit. You hear the rattlesnake hiss of your radar detector and the SAM explodes out of the clouds like a flying telephone pole. You dive hard right then pull up in a 4G climb that tears your guts apart. But you're locked on to the target. You head down the chute, pickle off a Shrike and watch it ride the radar down to its source. Later, the F-4'll come in with cluster bombs to finish the job.
On Thud Ridge, there's no margin for error.

Nothing demands more nerve, skill and courage than being a combat pilot. It you've got the guts, Thud Ridge is your game. You'll graze rice paddles at Mach 1. You'll feel the rush as you dive bomb the Hanoi Thermal Plant with a MIG glued to your tail. You'll sense the fear as you're painted by enemy radar over Phuc Yen.

Master the 10 actual missions in Thud Ridge, and you'll know you've got what it takes to be a Wild Weasel Thud Driver. Just one mistake, and you'll soon be checking into the Hanoi Hilton.
